SUMMER BODY

This morning I was thinking I needed to figure something out for a post, so I decided to make a body scrub... This time I actually wrote down exactly what I used, so I can repeat it if it was a winner!

This is the Recipe so you guys can make it at home, or... you can win your very own by guessing how many tubes of mascara I currently have in my makeup bag!  To win it you must be a follower of my blog, and guess the correct amount.  You are allowed one entry.  Two entry's if you re-post this on your blog!  This contest ends July 7th!  Make sure you leave a place I can get ahold of you to let you know your the winner!!

1/8 Cup White Sugar
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Handful Dead Sea Salts
1/8 Cup Golden Jojoba Oil
1 Tbsp Apricot Kernel Oil
1 Tbsp Rose Hydrosol
1/4 Tsp Aloe Extract
1/4 Fragrance Oil (I used Vanilla Hazelnut)
1/4 Tsp Silk Powder

Now I used a bit of white sugar because it gives it a little grit, brown sugar because it smells good, and is a more gentle exfolliant.  The dead sea salts are full of minerals which are good for the body.  Jojoba oil is good for anti-aging and for moisturizing the skin.  Apricot Kernel Oil is gentle on the skin and is often found in baby products because of this.  It also penetrates the skin without leaving a greasy feeling.  Rose Hydrosol is responsible for stimulating the skin and increasing blood flow.  It is also good for tightening pores, but it is warned against using on sensitive skin.  Another perk of this product is that it helps fight against acne!   Aloe Extract can be used to soothe and help heal skin that is irritated, cut or bruised. It is also used as a moisturizer.  Silk powder is used to give your skin that silky feeling.  It also radiates and reflects UV rays, acting as a natural sunscreen, while giving your skin a boost of amino acids.

I loved the smell of this!  It reminded me of a bakery first thing in the morning!  How could you go wrong?!?!  I'm curious to change up the scents a little bit and use something a bit more energizing!

The texture of this reminded me of a caramel sauce!  It didn't have a harsh scrub to it.  It was a mild scrub that didn't go on greasy!  I love it!  One of my favorites yet!

I followed up the shower with some homemade lotion... I named it "The Single Girls Night Cream".  Yes, I realize you probably think that its a lame name for a lotion, but there is obviously a story behind this!  I made this lotion up and it stunk!  It was probably one of the most NASTY smelling things I've ever experienced, (might have something to do with my dislike for the smell of lemongrass) but it worked amazing!  I figured that you'd have to be single and sleeping alone to use this stuff, because if you were married... you might not be for long!  Anyways, I'll get into that another day!  All I can say is my skin is feeling soft and supple and a little bit radiant!  GO ME!

THE STALLING

WINGED OUT!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!  I'm currently listening to "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend" by Marilyn Monroe as I write this, and I have to say, I'm feeling exceptionally girly!

Today I was being lazy, so I didn't actually get up and shower till noon.  The motivation for that was falling asleep while texting someone! (sorry)  I'm glad I did.  I feel so much better now!  Anyways, I've been getting sick of the 5 eye shadows I have out here with me... I mean come on, there are so many color combinations you can do before you have to start repeating...  Today I was thinking about that "oak" colored eyeshadow that I threw out and decided to give my brown shadow another try... It failed!  I layered some pink and yellow over it hoping to get a little more of a bronzy color and it still didn't do too much for me, so I suppose that means its makeup shopping time when I get on days off again!

I kept the rest of the face pretty plain and got a little creative with my liquid liner.  Normally I don't like the look of the harsh lines and always end up smudging it in so it blends a little bit, but today I finally managed to get the whole cat eye look down, I did a double of the bottom and top and I have to say I like it!  Its just something different than I've ever done!

On another note, I just wanted to thank all of my readers for all of your wonderful comments!  You guys make this so much more fun to do! Toady's question:  "When do you feel  your sexiest?!" I would have to say for me its when I have killer eyelashes... I kinda feel like a diva when I have amazing lashes, and have the urge to push people out of my way while yelling, "Outta my way beeatch..." All while doing the infamous hair flip... Okay.. maybe that's a bit extreme, but I still feel pretty good!  Watch out for flying cellphones!

For those of you out there wondering... No, I don't just take two pictures and get a good one!  I took 80 today, and had 5 decent ones to choose from!  This is normally what they look like.  I like to smile like a fool and blink as soon as I press the shutter button!

ORGANIZER

So I've been packing this silly box I had around for like a year.  I've known what I was going to do with it the whole time, but I just hadn't got around to it.  I finally got the motivation to make it up into the organizer that it was supposed to be!

Now I had bought a box of chocolate bars forever ago (at Costco) for the guys I work with.  Once I had emptied it I thought about how perfect it would have been as an organizer!    I cut out pictures from magazines today (pictures to do with beauty) and then I Mod Podged them to the box.  It isn't quite the look I was going for, as I had a limited amount of magazines to choose from, but overall I think it did a pretty good job!  The whole project was super cheap, and I think I'm going to love it.  I'll post the pictures below.  Let me know what you guys think!

The bottom

I think this is going to be so much easier while getting ready!  I won't have to sift through my makeup bag!  Oh, and the liner/shelving... yes... its duct tape!  I tried painting it with nail polish, but all that did was make a mess and gave me a headache!  If you want to be inventive you can think my duct tape job as "Hillbilly Chrome"! (Has kind of a nice ring to it eh?!?)

TRIED , TESTED AND TRUE!

So I was noticing my hair was looking a little dull the other day and got kind of depressed!  I opened up another makeup bag that I had, and much to my surprise I found some V05 Hot oil in there!  I love this stuff, its like an instant pick me up for dull hair!  I heated some water, threw in the tube, jumped in the shower, wetted my hair, and then applied the product.  You leave it on for a min, rinse out and then follow with your shampoo and conditioner.  I could tell in the shower that my hair was going to feel amazing.  You know how when your hair feels so clean it squeaks!?!?  (I love that feeling by the way)  Well this is what happens when you use this stuff!  The great thing about it is its inexpensive.  I didn't take a before picture of my hair.  But I took a couple after shots!

I'm thinking of adding some more blonde to my hair for summer... any thoughts on this?!?  Oh, and just for the record, I do change my clothes!! I just happened to take pictures of this yesterday, as well as pictures for yesterdays post at the same time, with the same shirt on (obviously)!
I also straightened my hair for these pictures.  I know they [magazines, and all the other beauty people out there] are going on and on about how this [straightening] is so out and its all about the beachy waves this summer, but honestly, I look half retarded with beachy waves in my short hair!  I think once it gets a little longer it would look much cuter!  Anyways, I'm all about the straight hair right now.  I finally figured out how to manipulate my straightener so that it actually makes my hair straight and not like some sort of kinky frizz ball (not that my hair goes frizzy).  Chalk that up the the ultra fine, thin, straight hair.  I wasn't blessed in the gene pool that way.  My sister-in-law on the other hand... I wish I could cut off her hair and just stick it on my head, because its amazing!  Actually that girl got blessed in the whole gene pool!  She's smart, pretty, funny, pretty much what every other girl wishes she was!!  While I'm speaking about her, you should go check out her blog!  Its pretty amazing! Required2beinspired .  Don't forget to follow here!  I think she deserves way more followers than she has... maybe I'm biased because I actually know what a great person she is, but I'm sure you'll all figure that out yourselves soon enough!

MELLOW YELLOW

My favorite color this summer is yellow!  I swear every picture I have of me recently is in a yellow shirt!  Today, I worked with some yellows and greens for eyeshadow so that I was all matching.

I used GOSH eye shadows, A yellow one, and then lined the eyes with the teal color.  I used some Loreal on the outer eye in a neon kinda green color!  I have to say that my new makeup brushes are kinda fun!  I think I used about 7 of them trying out different techniques out.

Can you tell I have a tan?  Well I cheated!  This is the results of yesterdays post!  I think it looks pretty natural, (or at least I think it does) I love it!  Anyways.  I don't know how much you can really talk about the color yellow, so instead I think I'm just going to post a bunch of pictures of me in yellow!
Okay, this looks ridiculous (with all pictures and no writing), so I think I should start writing some more! haha.  Darn preview tool!  Anyways, I was wondering what you guys thought of matching eye shadows?  Is it a do, or is it a don't?  Should you do contrasting colors with your outfits?  I think I like the whole matching thing.  On another note... I used to have this eyeshadow, I don't know who made it or what its called... maybe something like Oak??  Anyways, I finally threw it out, because I'd had it for like 4 years, and never ended up getting to the bottom of it (close, but not totally finished it)  I'm sad I threw it out now, because it was my favorite!  It was always the go to color in my makeup bag.  It was a mixture of like gold and brown, but not a bronze color.  Anyways.  I'm going to have to go shopping and see if I can find it again.  My guess is I probably won't because they seem to enjoy discontinuing every single product I can't live without!  Anyways... I think this little rant filled up the rest!  The bottom picture is from a few days ago.  Sometimes I just like my more natural self better than when I actually play with colors, but the shirt is still yellow so its all tied in!  Plus it proves that I actually started to get a little bit of a tan!  GO  ME!
Hope you guys are all having a fantastic weekend!  I hope the sun is bright and shining where you are!

SELF TANNERS

I've been kinda bummed that I'm at work and won't be getting any sun for the next couple weeks, so I took matters into my own hands!  Instant tan in a bottle!  Its probably better for my skin too?!?!  Maybe not, who knows...

I've been a fan of ROC MINESOL Self-Tanning Lotion for quite awhile now (ever since I got some for free at work).  Its the easiest to apply (except for on your back, which I normally skip, seeing as how I'm wearing clothes anyways) of all the products out there.  I mean, we all put lotion on so how hard can it be?  All you do is rub, wash your hands (this is a must) and Voila... you're  bronzed goddess!  It takes a couple of hours before your skin is that bronze color, so don't panic if it isn't instant.  I've noticed that my skin feels really soft after I put this on.  It doesn't have the greatest smell to it, but its not so offensive that nobody wants to stand near you at the water cooler.  I rub it in really well so that I don't look like a zebra, because as much as I love animal prints, I don't want my skin looking like that.  Especially because I'm always trying to pass this off as au natural!

Next product I love is Rimmel London's -Sun Shimmer Instant Tan.  This is a lotion as well, I have the sexy legs one (another free one I got at work).  You rub it on and your instantly tanned!  The best thing about this product is it washes off in the shower that evening or the next morning!  The only downside is that it isn't permanent, so that means if you run through wet grass (which obviously I have done, or I wouldn't be mentioning it) or get all sweaty you are going to be streaky... just remember to rub it in well if it gets a little wet, and you should be good!  I use this on my legs in the summer, because they never seem to match the same color as my arms, so it just evens everything out!  I rubbed some on the back of my hand and then took a picture so you could compare the difference!  Its not orange, its just the perfect color!

What are your thoughts on self tanners?  Do you guys have a favorite, and if so, what is it and why?

On another note...I've spray tanned a few times and always find I come out looking like Chester from the Cheetos bag, so I quit doing that!!  Plus its retardedly expensive!  I'm just excited to get out there and get some real sun, because that's whats summer is all about.

Random Question Of The Day... What is the one thing that reminds you of summer, or makes you feel like summer if finally here?!?  My answer to this question: Pink Lemonade!

MAKEUP BRUSHES!!

I'm all excited I FINALLY have some makeup brushes!  I ordered them online (ebay of course!!).   Now they said it was a set of MAC brushes... obviously they were fake, because I did the research online, but I got a crap load of brushes... I suppose I should count them for the full effect, grand total (drum roll please) is 32... First of all, I have no idea what half of them are used for.  I suppose trial and error is the way to go!  I'm still excited for all of this, because I'm sure I'll find uses for them!  I'm kinda bummed that they are fake, but at the same time, I only paid like $20 bucks for the whole set.  They aren't high quality like my Bobby Brown brush (which I love!!) but they are better than some of the cheaper brushes I have floating in my makeup bag, so I suppose beggars can't be choosers!  So here is some pictures of them so you can see!

Do you guys have favorite brushes?  If so, what are they, and why are they your favorites?  Its always great to know what everyone else out there is using!

HELLO

Hey Everyone!  I just wanted to stop by and let you know I haven't run away!  I've just been working 14 hour days and by the time I get back to camp (that's right... I don't even get to go home at night)  I'm ready to just go to sleep!  I'll try and squeeze in a good post tomorrow!

Shopping...

So I'm starting to get a little frustrated today because I ordered clothes and makeup two weeks ago so that I could pick it up when I got to my parents house, and it still hasn't arrived!  I've been refraining from buying anything good because I've been waiting to get this stuff first, but tomorrow I'm heading down to the States, and I think that I might just go a little crazy.... well, I'm going to try and refrain, but I'm sure I'm going to find a couple great things that I just HAVE to have!

I know my post today isn't great, but its hard because I'm using my parents computer and I don't want to upload or download pictures on here because I always get blamed for screwing it up, and I figure seeing as how they have all their business stuff on it it would be a good idea to refrain for a couple days!

Anyways, I'm hoping my stuff comes in the mail tomorrow and that I'm just home early enough that I get to pick it up, otherwise I have to wait another month before I get it... boo to that!  Oh, and for something random.... BEN & JERRY'S We are Waffling ice cream is delish!

Just a funny picture I found of my grandma making horseradish with my mom.  It proves that you can still be 72 and an utter riot! (and everyone loves a picture)  Haha sorry Grandma! I thought this was priceless!

Oh, and Natasha, when you read this I'm bringing the dog over around 9:30 when I head to the dentist tomorrow!!

Awards

Hey Everyone!  Hope the week started out fantastically!  I didn't post yesterday because I got the privilege of watching my niece for the night!  We had a super fantastic sleepover, and I had to admit, playing with her was way more appealing than punching out some message on a keyboard!

On a great note, I got an award from DOLLFACE!  Thanks I'm super excited about it!!

The Rules:

State 5 random facts about yourself, and award 5 other bloggers.

1- I refuse to get in the shower if the floor is cold... I have to run the water for at least 5 mins so its nice and toasty warm.

2- I hate washing my face at night.  It doesn`t matter how tired I am, as soon as I do it, I`m wide awake and then can`t get to sleep.

3- I can listen to a song I`m in love with for 12 hours on repeat.  Or an entire CD over and over and over (it takes me 12 hours to drive to work, and I usually have the same one in the entire time.

4- I always wanted to be a police woman when I grew up.

5- I wear socks 3-4 times before I retire them to my drawer and buy new ones (I don`t wear socks often [thank goodness] or I'd be broke)  Something about the feel of new socks is just the greatest!

LATHER UP!

I was getting in the shower the other day and for some reason I was wondering what kinda fun stuff other people have in their showers!  I mean, I love staying at other peoples houses so I can try out every good smelling thing in their shower in the morning.  I think I should mention that I only do this when I'm at relatives or close friends... just so we have it clear that I'm not some sort of creep!

My work shower is pretty basic, a couple kinds of shampoo, a razor, and usually a body scrub that I whipped up.

Whats in my shower right now?
1) Joico K-PAK Reconstruct Shampoo (to repair damaged hair)
2) Joico BODY LUXE Thickening Conditioner (to obviously thicken hair)
3) Amenta NATURAL CLOVE Daily Moisturizing Shampoo (for gentle cleansing and repair of dry & brittle hair)

Now I love the Joico brand, but I only buy it when its at Winners (TJ Maxx in the states), because I'm cheap! Don't worry, I don't steal packets of ketchup and empty them into my ketchup bottle at home.  I just figure, why would I go spend more money when I can get it for less?  Anyways, I like the brand, and it seems to work well with my hair!  It also smells great, which is a huge plus in my books!

Amenta, the aromatherapy hair care!  I can't say enough about this!  It leaves my hair so clean and fresh!  The smell is to die for!  It smells like something familiar but I just can't put my finger on it (I'll keep sniffing it until I figure it out)  Anyways, I got this one at Winners too.  I like checking out their hair care products, because they always have things that are better than your run of the mill drug store products.

A few days I ordered some Shampoo and Conditioner from Sephora.  It is the (yes, I had to on the website because I forgot what it was) Ojon Shine & Protect Trio.  It was a limited edition thing and I liked the packaging.  It looked about right for summer.  This is what I copied off the Website:  Discover the secret ritual to shiny, color-vibrant, hydrated hair. This collection features products formulated with exclusive, hand-harvested Ojon® oil from Central America and a blend of Mandarin Orange, Papaya, Lime and Almond extracts, Broccoli Seed oil, and Vitamin E. This ritual helps protect while giving hair brighter, more vivid color.  Sounds pretty good right?!?

I have to admit... I bought a bunch of other things off the Sephora website, so I can't wait to show you guys my haul!

Anyways, whats your favorite shampoo?  Do you prefer Salon Products or Drugstore Products?

TO BRAID OR NOT TO BRAID...

I'm so glad its almost summer.  The one thing that reminds me of the beach is cute braids in your hair!  Now obviously like anything, there is a way to wear them that is completely wrong, and there are ways to be totally chic about it!

In an earlier post I had blogged about cutting bangs, and now... I'm totally sick of them!  I figured a cute little braid at the front would keep them out of my face for the day!  I could either wear my hair up, or down, and it would be perfectly acceptable (or at least I think so...).
Gosh, now that I look at this picture I can't believe how terribly I need a tan!!!  The picture of my hair today is the upper left picture.  I also did a post awhile back of the picture to the right.  I think I like the one on the right better because it has some definition from my highlights.  I also know I'm in need of some serious color in my hair right not.  It has this terrible greenish tinge to it... Blah!  As of Sunday when I get home I will be rectifying it!

Now I searched the Internet for some braids that I like and then there are some that just speak for themselves!  I hope you love the chic ones, and get a chuckle out of the "not so chic" ones!
Obviously you can tell that these two are my favorites!  They just look so feminine and fun!  Who wouldn't love to have hair like this?

WOW!!  I think this is just a faux pas no matter which way you look at it!
White Gangsta in the house!! Like seriously dude... WTF?
I don't even want to know...

I know this guy doesn't have braids... but this is just so wrong that I had to post it anyways!

PS:  If anyone that reads this blog is pictured above and is offended that they made the 'WORST BRAIDS IN HISTORY POST", I'm not sorry!  But seriously, take my advice and find a new stylist!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

This evening I figured it was time to do a face mask!  I'm going on days off and I figured that my skin should be in tip top shape just in case I manage to score myself a hot date!  I mixed some of my clay mask that I did in an earlier post (The only post I never gave a title to) and mashed in some avocado in with it.  Avocados are known for their super amazing properties.  They make skin softer, more even, reduce redness... and the list goes on and on.

Some days I wonder what possesses me to smear things all over my face and then take pictures of it for you all to see.  I have to say, regardless of the disaster on my face my eyes seem to be even for once!  It just so happens that I have a terrible time taking pictures of myself.  One eye likes to stay half closed, one eye wide open, both squinty, both eyes closed, one eye looking in a different direction... it goes on and on...  All I can say is YAY!  Maybe they will start cooperating more often for me!

I figured while I was at it, I might as well eat some guacamole, because my face isn't so huge that I need to use a whole avocado on it!  Guacamole here we come!  I even took a picture of the goodness I whipped up!

Just in case you were wondering... It was delicious!

PS:  I left the mask on for 20 mins, and when I washed it off my skin felt amazing!  Once again, pores were minimized and I had soft supple glowy skin!

PINK CARAMEL

Yesterday when I was doing my makeup I realized I had some pink and purple in my makeup bag that I hadn't used.  It might have something to do with the fact that the purple broke, crumbled all over the bottom of the bag, and I'm constantly getting purple shadow all over my hands when I reach in there... grr...

Anyways.  I did my makeup with my lip brush again!  I can't wait to get home because I ordered some MAC makeup brushes (actually the whole set), and they should be waiting for me Sunday when I arrive!

I feel like a girl today!  Its amazing how a little punch of color can do that.  On another note,  I tried to convince my boss to let me do his makeup, because I thought my readers would love to see an 80 year old man all painted up (even if you didn't, I would)!!  He informed me there is a difference in being a good sport and being a complete fool.  I guess I'll give him that one!

I used Sally Girl makeup, I got  it at Sally Beauty for cheap, and its not bad shadow.  I've obviously had better, but for a couple bucks a girl can't be too demanding.

I'm super excited to be getting more readers!  Thanks for all your wonderful comments!  I love getting them!  And I'm even more excited that I finally have 13 followers!!  It makes this so much more fun to do when you know people might be a little bit interested in what you have to say!

EYESHADOW: Sally Girl in Caramel (pink color), once again, I believe they are getting color blind people to name their makeup (no offense if anyone out there is color blind)
Sally Girl in Midnight (this one is a little closer)

TOUCH OF GREEN??

It's been awhile since I did a makeup post, so here goes!  Today I had no idea what the heck to do with my makeup!  I'm wearing all black, so I figures I'd go with a neon kinda green (which you obviously can't tell I put on in the pictures).  I have no idea what possessed me to buy this color (actually, I do, His name was Jack Daniels).  Lets just say, never have a couple drinks and go makeup shopping, its expensive, and usually the next day you wonder what the heck you were thinking! I know the application of it isn't great, but what can I say, I did my entire eye makeup with a lip brush because I have no idea what happened to my brushes!

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with the end results.  I must say, I do look a little ridiculous sitting on an oil rig with hot green eyeshadow!  Looks like I'm going to spend the rest of the day inside so that everyone isn't "concerned" with my overall mental health!  I mean lets face it, these guys know its a huge effort for me to brush my hair, let alone put makeup on!

Sorry about the lighting!  Its not the greatest in here!

Whats your thoughts?  Have any of you ever tried a shade like this before?

The products I used today were:
GOSH X-ceptional wear light reflecting makeup in Golden
Piurre Effect Mineral Powder in Creme Caramel
Piurre Effect Mineral Blush in Terra Cotta
Loreal HIP Matte Shadow in Perky
Sally Girl Shadow in White Chocolate (which is actually grey, so I don't get their naming process)
Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Moonlit Jewels
Almay Liquid Liner in Black
Covergirl LashBlastVolume Mascara
Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara
and finally...
Dior Lip Glow (My most favoritest lip gloss ever!)  Thank goodness for my buddy Jack, or I never would have spent the money on this one!

PS:  On another note, I'm uber excited, because I made it the whole way through writing this blog without a single spelling mistake!  I guess school has really paid off!

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

I've been rather annoyed lately with the size of the pores on my cheeks.  They're bigger than I want, and it just seems that its the one thing that I can't stand.  I decided to make up a mask in hopes that something magic would happen...  I used:

PINK KAOLIN CLAY: Gentle enough for sensitive or dry skin.  It works to exfoliate without removing all the oils your skin requires.

TEA TREE OIL: Germicide.  It gets rid of bacteria that lingers on the skin.

CYCLOMETHICONE: Gives skin a silky soft feeling.

GOLDEN JOJOBA: Aids in the clearing of Acne.

DEAD SEA SALT: Stimulates the skin and cleanses the pores while improving texture.

I noticed my pores were less visible and my skin felt lifted.  When I applied the mask it had a tingling sensation, but it wasn't anything unpleasant.  Looks like my little concoction worked!  I left it on for 10 minutes, rinsed, and then followed up with a moisturizer.  I used this for a week, every other day, and my skin cleared up better than its ever been!  Its been a couple weeks since I've used it and I've noticed that my face isn't quite as smooth as it was when I was using this.  I guess that means I'm going to have to dig it out of my bag and give it another whirl.

Whats your guy's take on homemade products?  Would you rather buy something handmade or would you rather go to the store and just by something off the shelf?
